I worked at Best Buy part-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

-High value of employees
-Structured training programs
-Reasonable work hours
-Provides a wide array of relevant transferable skills
-Generous employee discounts

Cons

Overall, about what you would expect from a retail electronics company. The patience of everyone around you, including management, is tested on a semi-regular basis with regards to customer traffic and conflict. Also, the holiday times are a bit intense as expected.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to feedback from part-time employees; their opinions are important as well.

I worked at Best Buy full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Looking back on my 4 years spent there, I appreciate the knowledge I gained around the products.

    Cons

No development was put into me, no matter how hard I tried to move up. I consistently had good numbers, but still had unnecessary pressure put on me because "I wasn't good enough to be promoted." They hire people with NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE for leadership roles.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop the people that desire opportunity, and don't promote your friends because they're your friends.
