I worked at Best Buy full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The Team atmosphere really made coming to work easier. After work, we would go out and have fun together. Management sometimes joined us.

    Cons

It didn't seem like we were there to sell products, but to sell services and the performance plans. I understand that was the high profits, but Supervisors and managers drilled those metrics all day, every day.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Very generous employee discount, meetings with vendors were fun, a lot of room to move up in the company.

    Cons

Far too much emphasis is placed on selling service plans. Even though you aren't commissioned, you must still make a quota or face the consequences. Supervisors do nothing but belittle employees who do not make quota. Associates will do whatever it takes to make this quota, even if it means having a customer leave the store for not purchasing a service plan. This type of pressure creates unwanted stress in the work environment, and for this reason, it is not a good job for college students.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value the customer, whether they want to purchase a service plan or not.
