I worked at Best Buy part-time for more than a year

Pros

Great first job, Awesome employee discount,friendly atmosphere,customers usually seem to leave very satisfied and come back for our services,managers work on the floor with you and are readily available for questions or concerns of either employees or customers.

Cons

uniform required,everyone must work on the cash register,schedule changes a lot after you are already at work (example being you are scheduled 4-8 but when you get there they will ask for you to work 4-close instead)

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management was awesome when I worked there, It was great that they were always available.

    Listen to your team and help them realize their goals. Happy employees are more productive. If they believe you are there to help them they will be more willing to help you achieve your desired results.

    I worked at Best Buy full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    - They pay top dollar!
    - depending on your job, the hours are very flexable
    - Employee discount is very good
    - Other benifits such as medical, dental, vision, life, 401K, vacation, etc are all very good
    - The Corp Office is a great work environment with banking, child care, dry cleaning, postal services and much more available right on campus.
    - Company leadership is now very focused

    Cons

    - Company is still very shaky in terms of Comp Sales
    - They continue to eliminate positions almost on a weekly basis
    - job stability is not good
    - new job opportunity is much more limited than in the past

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    You say you are focused on training the employee. But you do not provide the labor or type of facilitated training to accomplish your goal.
    You need to also provide the proper labor, at the right times, to help all of your customers.
    Stop with the weekly jjob eliminations. Your people are scared about job security. Give it a rest for some time and let them focus on their jobs. You can start again next spring.
