Great starter job

Former Employee - Sales Operator
Former Employee - Sales Operator

I worked at Best Buy full-time

Pros

I worked in a wonderful store for three years and I loved it. We all became a family and hung out regularly outside of work. The discount is amazing. They have awesome requirements for part time employees.

Cons

Growth isn't really an option.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    Lots of hours, decent structure.

    Cons

Incredible fluctuation in hours, corporate based management takes weeks to fix issues that could be fixed in minutes in store

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give your stores more power to fix things on their own instead of having to deal with a broken system for months.

  2. Very stressful place to work if you don't enjoy being aggressive and pushy with customers.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Discounts are pretty good if you like to buy electronics

    Cons

Management put too much pressure on employees to fill quotas for credit card applications and protection plans. I still believe that the real pressure was on the management, and that they just decided to pass it down to lower-level employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I left because I saw a brand new employee with no prior experience come in making about $2 an hour more than I did, simply because he asked for higher wages. It would have taken me over a year to get enough of a raise to be paid equal to someone who was less experienced than myself. If only I would have known, or if only there was a system in place that started everyone out equally.
