Pros

As a large company, Best Buy provides a variety of career advancement opportunities in many facets of the business including Specialty divisions such as Best Buy Canada, Best Buy Mobile and Premium Brands (Pacific Sales and MDC). As an enterprise, Best Buy maintains a true focus on Talent with a good opportunity for career advancement based on performance in roll.

Cons

As Best Buy is consistently adapting and changing to the current ecomomy and market place, changes in strategy can sometimes happen so quickly that the previous stragies did not have a change to be thoroughly executed. Some of these changes also have a direct impact on job security in leadership roles within the company.

    Pros

The training and the people are two main benefits I felt I took advantage of while at Best Buy. Best Buy's online learning lounge has thousands of pieces of training material. You get paid for those which are required, but also have access to a wealth of information especially in Geek Squad. Also, everyone is very approachable and never too busy to help you out.

    Cons

The Geek Squad transition period which occurred in summer 2012 was not as smooth as anticipated and left many with unclear, overlapping roles despite its efforts to the contrary. Big transitions in the future need to be planned better on a store-by-store basis

    Advice to Management

Yes, a customer first mentality is key to staying relevant in the world of retail. But, this often came at the expense of managers overriding policies which we were made clear to follow precisely causing us to look like the bad guys in front of customers. Promote a more clear issue mitigation strategy.

  2. Not a bad place to work at all!

    Pros

Some of the supervisors will at least try almost anything for their employees, they really care about who they hire and who they're working with for the most part.

    Cons

Shifty schedule. It isn't steady, the hours and amount of hours change drastically week to week.
