I worked at Best Buy

Pros

Job was laid-back, easy to follow instructions. I also learned about technology and new products a lot.

Cons

The hours are sometimes late, as more people shop at night. Not very flexible comes holiday time

I worked at Best Buy full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Employer provides and pays for technician development. The company supports employee training by paying for certification study materials, offering training hours in order to prepare for certification, and paying for certification providing the technician achieves a passing score. Additionally, a good relationship with store level management can help achieve flexible work hours while pursuing higher education. If you're good at what you do as an Autotech, there's opportunity for recognition and advancement at the regional and corporate levels.

    Cons

Workplace politics and high turnover with store level management can potentially inhibit career development. The biggest struggles were due to store level management mismanaging Autotech labor and going in different a different route other than the corporate direction. Due to the size of the company, it's not uncommon for a poor customer experience at another store to heavily influence an overall negative perception with all of the employees or quality of employee work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep closer tabs on store level management, often times corporate values are not shared or communicated at the store level management and employee experiences may suffer for it.
