I worked at Best Buy part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    Flexible schedule
    Good experience
    Decent hours
    Good job to meet people
You leave with knowledge about products.

    Cons

Employees are trained to sell crap products without commission. The sales associates do not stay very long for this reason.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus more on the technical knowledge of employees rather than promoting BS products. Do not give quotas to employees. Let customers shop on their own more instead of forcing sales people onto them. TLDR: this should be a tech/customer service job, not a sales job.

I worked at Best Buy full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The people I worked with during my 5 years and 3 stores were incredible. If you want to work with intelligent, fun people, this is a great place to start.

    Cons

Constant reorganization of the operating model and organization chart can be overwhelming. As soon as employees get used to a new way of doing business, a new model is introduced emphasizing completely different processes. It could feel like all of your previous work was irrelevant.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change is stressful. Make sure you acknowledge this with the employees left behind to do "more with less" when each re-structure occurs. Many feel as if the company is collapsing in on itself. That is not a good work environment.
