I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Decent pay, great discount, great employees

Cons

Expensive health insurance, a lot of redundancy with leadership, lack of focus, management is too busy flirting with the cashiers and going out drinking than running their business. A lot of failure is considered "opportunity" they never get rid of the managers that check out mentally.

Advice to Management

Know your leaders. Talk to your line level employees. Your leadership or lack there of is killing your business.

    I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Best Buy can be a good place to learn how to deal with confrontation, leadership abilities, self-confidence, and more. I learned a lot from best buy in my 7 1/2 years of working there. There was a lot more bad than good but the good sure did feel great.

    Cons

    Corporate politics and the fact that no matter how good you are, there is still seniority and limited positions available. Most people in this job do not have a degree; thus, there is more competition.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your people and motivate them. People will work harder for you if you make them like their job (surprise surprise...)

    I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    The discount was a wonderful part of the job. I actually enjoyed working here because I love technology and entertainment.

    Cons

    They make you sell retarded things like magazines at the checkout. They also try to get you to sell "protection plans" on most items that aren't movies or music. There is an extreme amount of favoritism and everybody sleeps with everybody. Chlamydia made the rounds at the Best Buy I worked at.

    Advice to Management

    Stop playing games and actually do your job!
