I have been working at Best Buy full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

There are lots of opportunities to learn and explore a wide range of high tech and state of the art electronics. Appears to be a lot of opportunities to advance and lateral within the stories and within corporate.

    Cons

I work with a wide range of ages and experience levels. Professionalism varies widely. Some of my co-workers need lots of coaching and training. Occasionally, some customers are incredibly difficult, rude, curt, unreasonable and downright hateful. Verbal judo and other communications skills should be mandatory training.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get organized and set the pace by living what you are preaching. Praise in public, criticism in private. Know your people and what motivates them. Be open and honest in all dealings. Take the time to listen to their concerns and questions. Provide accurate and timely feedback on performance. Help everyone develop a career plan for advancement. Take time to get to know a little about your team.
