Former Employee - Best Buy Sales Associate in Concord, NH

I worked at Best Buy part-time (more than a year)

Pros

I enjoyed the team based atmosphere in our store, and the company culture (have fun while being the best).

Cons

Like with any job, the people that you work for matter the most. I had one supervisor who was not very mindful of people's schedules and another who went above and beyond to take care of us.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

If the company is going to fail, it is going to fail, messing around with the employee discount isn't going to make or break the company, so just leave it alone!

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Good pay, good leaders, work life balance is not very good.

    Cons

Hard to find good line level talent

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Labor spend is way out of wack, most managers end up working 50+ hours a week because they are salaried. The company needs to evaluate their workload for all leaders and associates.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Fun work environment, good training if taken advantage of. Good customer service and support of employees decisions. Experience can vary depending on quality of managers and supervisors.

    Cons

High pressure sales and high expectations to meet sales goals but poor hourly wage. Sales model is run like a commission structure but there is no commission paid. No upward mobility/very difficult to get into leadership role if they become available.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Promotions should be less political.
