I worked at Best Buy part-time for less than a year

Pros

Plenty of work during the holidays if needed. Opportunity to move up in the company if one is willing to put the years in.

Cons

Management always seems to be some person who knows less than they should. Undertrained and underpaid.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ensure your employee's get the proper training and use management to enforce the work policies. It doesn't look good when your employees seem to not care about helping the customer with passion. For example look at the apple store.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time for more than a year

    Pros

When you get the right management, the job is fun, straight forward, rewarding and great for a place to start. Plus the discount is back to its former glory and 5% above cost is nothing to laugh at for some things. Also there is nothing like the team environment, when there is good management above it really is a quite enjoyable job from retail standards.

    Cons

When the management sucks, so does your experience. With experience in 3 stores and 3 unique management teams they better they are the better your job. Hours and people can sometimes be annoying, but that's expected from retail.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your employees the same way you would your customers and make sure they're taken care of as well.

Good pay, okay work, terrible management

I worked at Best Buy full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The starting salary was more than most places will offer for college students. It's already changed for me due to minimum wage increases but at the time the starting pay was at least $2 higher than minimum and the raise system say on average a 30 cent raise each quarter with that getting bumped up if you moved to full time or a better position. I worked in the warehouse so the work was easy enough, unload trucks, stock shelves, etc. Nothing too crazy

    Cons

For working in the department that stocks the shelves and knows the planograms and floor plans better than your average associate, management (both in the store and corporate) sure does like to pretend the warehouse crew doesn't exist. So much so that during one of the "refreshes" by the new CEO, the sales team had a chance to earn MUCH more in bonuses than the warehouse team.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider actually thinking about the average employee instead of always thinking of the bottom dollar. You're so scared Best Buy will go under with Amazon as competition you forget you have people working for you, the one advantage you always claim to have over Amazon
