Best Buy is a GREAT company to work for but unfortunately you can run into managers that lack development skills.

Pros

Benefits are great!
Medical, Dental, Vision, Matching 401K and Tuition reimbursement. Employee Accommodation and discounts.
Development is highly encouraged for those that seek it out. They provide a lot of resources.
Compensation is good.

Cons

Sometimes you run into bad managers. So its a good idea to do research before taking a new position.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Understand and know your employees. Sometime personalities don't always get along. The employee might be a good worker and actually function better under someone else's leadership. So let the pride go and help them into a different role under new management.

I used to think it was always the employee's fault and not my leadership skills. Help them succeed.

    Pros

Employee Discount is best around and has yet to be beat. Good beginner's experience in a sales environment. Fellow employees are respectful and easy to get along with.

    Cons

Most levels of management lack any real education after high school. This leads to uneducated decision making and a lack of direction. This goes for management on the district level as well.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Show some tact around both employees and customers. The most irritating trait most managers share is the low they are willing to sink to in order to up their numbers in order to bonus.

    Pros

Pays better than regular Best Buy jobs before bonus incentives, and has better benefits

    Cons

High pressure sales job, especially in bad economy where they are wanting to grow 20% annually. Job's pay is based on sales numbers

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more bottom up in management style.
