I have been working at Best Western part-time

    Pros

Do your work and you will feel good about the job. I often received tips from guests because my efforts to make sure they were accomodated. Do good work and people will notice.

    Cons

It can get hectic and things may not always be easy. Be prepared for you to have to run around and feel like you are doing other peoples work. It can be understaffed at different points of the year depending on the turnover.

NNot the best, but probably typical corporate atmosphere.

I have been working at Best Western full-time

    Pros

At least I have a job
    Convenient location
    Building is nice
Nice people for the most part

    Cons

Too many managers who are unqualified; too many people managers period in my dept.
    Below Average Pay Scale
Hourly people practically have to beg for overtime.
CEO is uptight and does not care about employees - just hoteliers.
Hoteliers know how to work the system (the company has taught them how) - some don't care if they get an employee in trouble, as long as they get what they want. Everyone is so afraid the CEO will get involved, they usually just give the hoteliers what they want, even if it's not right, even if it costs the company which costs the other hoteliers money (since it is a membership organization).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of undeserving people who are not cutting it rather than switching them to other positions. This is a disservice to them as well as their coworkers and the members. Pay more attention - check in on employees. Listen better. Promote based on merit and qualifications rather than friendships and the person's ability to just go with the flow on everything. Focus on quality rather than quantity...huge problem in my dept for a long time.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO
