I worked at Big Lots full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

.Good salaries for assistant and store managers
.Hours aren't to hefty

Cons

.Nothing was ever consistent schedules changed a million times, truck unload program is a mess in most of the stores
.Put a lot of there stores in beat up buildings
.In my experience district managers changed to many times at one point I had 6 in one year which gets crazy because you can't become used to one or build a relationship with one

Advice to ManagementAdvice

.Discover a real way to unloads trucks that isn't unorganized, the process has changed a million times over, but never seems to work good.

I worked at Big Lots full-time

    Pros

Discount and pay were great. Hours not too bad.

    Cons

There is no respect given at store level whats so ever. And the thought of calling a higher up to voice your concern is crazy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Follow the ethics of respect and ensure all your Store Managers are on board with that.

I worked at Big Lots part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

it was good learning experience in dealing with people from all walks of life. I also learned about setting up a store and how to print out bar codes; cheap snacks

    Cons

poor management at the store level; employees bring a lot of drama; penny pinching customers get irate if they don't get things as cheap as they think they should; some of the stuff there especially the electronics seemed to be poor in quality
