I have been working at BigMachines full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

#1=the people. Growing at an incredible rate. 70 employees to 400 in under 3 years. Room to move up and/or sideways to do whatever you are passionate about. Everybody in the company is on a level playing field. Culture of accountability. Working together on everything, not a dictatorship at ANY level from the top to the bottom. Brilliant minds working together towards a common goal leads to successes, fulfillment, loyalty, and dedication; things that seem to have fallen by the wayside over the past 30 years. In a sentence, "You WILL love working here, I promise"

Cons

Growing pains: we are growing so fast that sometimes it hurts

Approves of CEO

Used to be a great place to work. Now it's painful to come in every day.

I have been working at BigMachines full-time

    Pros

    - Friendly and incredibly intelligent coworkers (because of the crazy aptitude test you have to take to get in).
    - Good view from the office.

    Cons

    - Upper management is disconnected from the employees. They just don't care.
    - Hard work is not being recognized.
    - Promotions are not real, mostly lateral moves.
    - The fun "work hard/play really hard" culture created by our founder/CEO (who was pushed out of the company) is completely gone. Now it's just a "work hard/work hard" because there is no one left to do the work. People have literally been leaving every week.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Care.

I have been working at BigMachines full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The company is growing like crazy and there are tons of opportunities to do things that are outside your training so you can grow your skills. There are lots of new customers, there's lots of growth, the company is investing in long training programs so people know what they are doing and don't make rookie mistakes even if they don't have much experience.

    Cons

busy, busy, busy! there's so much to do and it's never really done. it's a good problem to have but you have to control your own time and make your own balance because you can work and work and work and never get it all done. more people are added every month but the growth is fast so it's hard to get enough people to do everything that needs to be done.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    keep adding people!
