Little pay and little tolerance of mistakes

I worked at BigMachines full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Learn alot, Free Friday Lunches, Company picnics

    Cons

Their pay increases are not based on however well your review went, they are "stack-ranked" by managers up and down the line and a good percentage of people are guaranteed to get no pay increase just because they have to have a quota of people in that category, not because they necessarily sucked. It's possible to have a decent review and get no pay increase.

Starting pay is low among the workers that started before the new management, but they don't try to make up the difference with the more experienced workers.

Hours can sometimes be a problem, especially on projects or special occasions.

There is a new atmosphere that can be described as low tolerance for mistakes that makes it easy for them to fire people for mistakes that shouldn't matter.

Management can be described as insensitive due to the pay and hours, and mistakes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lighten up, pay your 'original' employees to catch up them up with the new hires, and actually ties your salary increases to review scores. And control the hours, encourage comp time.
