Pros

Steady job - if you keep your head down, and don't have to many ideas on how to change stuff around the company, you can stay employed for a long time and keep getting paid a decent salary.

Cons

This company values tenure over everything else. There is no option to get promoted for performance, even if it is outstanding! The only way to get promoted is to stay at biorad long enough. At the same time the company does not punish laziness. Lack of rewards for performance and lack of punishment for laziness breeds an entire class of useless employees that do nothing but drink their coffee and write endless chains of emails.

Advice to Management

Recognize the few extraordinary people who are very talented and committed to their work. It is no accident that all the smart people leave sooner or later and all that's left are people who literally spin in their chairs instead of doing any work.

    Pros

    Very steady company, very conservative.

    Cons

Because the company is so conservative, it is not for the greatly ambitious person. Either for career or monetary reasons.

    Advice to Management

Listen more to the needs of the customers. Do this by listening the to the employees that communicate with the customers regularly.

    Pros

    Fair payscale
Rarely has layoffs, trys to avoid layoffs at all costs.
    Good employees to work with.

    Cons

Very much a bottom line company.
    Sometimes pinches pennies too much.
Hard to move up in certain departments, if you are considered too valuable in your department, good luck in moving up the career ladder.

    Advice to Management

HR needs to pay more attention to what departing employees are saying and try implement the suggestions for improvement that were told to them.
