Current Employee - Project Manager in Newtown, PA
Current Employee - Project Manager in Newtown, PA
No opinion of CEO

Pros

1- Good Benefits as with any major company 2-Opportunity to work 40 hours as long as you arrive 7-9am and work your full day. 3-Great colleagues 4-Good place to gain experience then move on to a larger salary with less stree

Cons

1- Pay is much lower than anywhere else 2-There is a large turn over rate with PM 3-Associate PM are hired right out of college with peanuts for pay. They are then promoted to PM way too soon with very little compensation. There is no time for PM to mentor APMs so they are too green to take on projects solo. This causes many issues in projects that turn into disasters. 4-Managers give reviews once a year and nothing else. Employees should not be shocked when let go. If managers worked with their employees throughout the year, then a lay off would not be a shock. Lay offs come completely unexpected. If you intend on letting someone go, it should not surprise the employee. Reviews and goals should be set, discussed and reviewed every 3 months. 5-They lay off many knowledgeable people due to personality reasons or trivial matters. I have watched so many talented people go without warning. It is a disgrace and the company suffers as a result. 6-No interest in professional growth and development as a result, people gain experience and split. 7- Morale is very low. 8-Focus if company is to put out fires and then play catch up. No projects run smoothly. Very disorganized. 9-A great deal of gossip occurs with management and discussed with employees that should not be privy to that type of gossip. 10-PMs carry heavy work loads and too many projects per PM. Expect to have 10-20 projects depending on how much they like you.

Advice to Management

Hire experienced PMs. Work on professional development, mentoring current employees and invest in your employees. Stop laying off those that work hard and care. They keep the stagnant employees who sit and play on the internet, complain under their breaths and avoid the radar. Retraining new employees is costly.

I have been working at BioClinica full-time

    Pros

    - public company with 500 employees makes you feel like your contributions can really affect the bottom line - most products are technologically ahead of competitors offerings, allowing for great growth potential - 30 total days off per year is well above average in US (9 holidays + 21 vacation/sick days) - Strong teams and sense of teamwork in most areas I have seen - Open to new product lines and market areas - The pharma/clinical community has a generally high level of respect for BioClinica products

    Cons

    - Geographic diversity (Philadelphia, Boston, Seattle, New London, Lyon France, Leiden Netherlands) means spreading out a small work force - Management tends to be conservative with its finances

    Advice to Management

Spend aggressively to stay ahead of the competition and focus on the many technology gaps that still exist in the clinical environment
