Pros

Infrastructure teams in IT are highly skilled and competent workers.

Cons

Senior leadership is acting in old ways and depend on 'buddy' system. Vendor refresh system leaves much to ask for

Advice to Management

Listen to employees. Don't be afraid to challenge current vendors with competitor's technology solutions. Don't hire friends. Hire the best, most motivated person.

    Pros

    - OK benefits - Nice friendly people - Some smart people

    Cons

    - Incompetent managers and mismanagement - Poor communication - No risk taking - Slow due to bureaucracy and mismanagement - Nepotism/favoritism (it's who you know and not what you know)

    Advice to Management

The company grew way too fast without proper streamlining and processes in place. Fire incompetent managers and hire smart, intelligent and hard working people. Take some risks and try to innovate.

    Pros

I had flexibility with job hours and location, decent pay, and recognition for a job well done. I was allowed autonomy and the ability to get tasks completed.

    Cons

Slow to respond to the changing market trends, leaving them well behind the new leaders after mostly establishing the market. Now they are left to play catch-up and it is at the cost of the employees that led to the original success. No longer innovative, they are working to stay in the game but it may be too little too late.

    Advice to Management

Let projects and products move faster. Upper management had too much say in product direction based on whims instead of customer needs. The segmented platform meant too many per-device tweaks to remove bugs, leading to long development cycles, which could have been corrected by a more stable platform.
