Pros

It was nice in its own way to be working with some of the best brains in the industry. But tough competition from market was a source of constant heartache!
Good salary, good benefits.

Cons

Tough position in the market, unclear direction towards end of 2011

I worked at BlackBerry full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

RIM pays a few ticks better then most companies and their benefits and such are very good. Over all it is also a very relaxed environment other then a few specific issues.

    Cons

Scheduling, the "normal" schedules can be quite difficult and most have a rather large flex time of 2 hours or so, some flexing as much as an entire shifts difference. There is also a bipolar nature to the security and secrecy, overall the company is officially very serous about it, but the general employees are very lax, which leads to surprisingly harsh discipline when rules that may not have been enforced for months, suddenly become high priority.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I believe most of this is happening already, but stop acting like employees are not allowed a normal life by changing their schedules, with no opportunity for appeal, and please make sure all security rules are enforced equally.
