I have been working at BlackRock full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Dedicated people, great compensation and good fiduciary values.

Cons

Culture has eroded from collaborative to an 'every man for himself' approach. This has dampened innovation and risk taking to the point that I believe they will have trouble continuing to grow the business.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

You are wasting a lot of your talent. Stop focusing so much on the old boys club and recognize the diverse talent that exists throughout the firm. Dial down the emphasis on face time.

I worked at BlackRock full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Compensation is competitive but not overly generous. Career opportunities globally are very good. Executive C-level management is excellent. Senior level management is good.

    Cons

Typical large company challenges with unproductive competition between various units, unclear lines of responsibility, and too much focus on internal (vs. client) issues.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop managing your career and start leading your people.
