I have been working at BlackRock

    Pros

Smart and intelligent people. Young and 'can-do' attitude. Good culture tends to instill sense of pride in working for world's largest asset manager.

    Cons

Work life balance is very poor. Long work hours are expected at all times. Sense of organization is low since the firm has grown very big in a very short time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to slow down to stabilize the firm's growth down to the grass roots level.

Buy out led to horrible cultural change. Definitely no longer a top company to work for in the SF Bay Area.

    I worked at BlackRock

    Pros

Good company to work at if your goal is to gain financial services . If you can land a Director level role or higher the bonuses are great.

    Cons

Arm chair/hierarchical/top down management style by East Coast baboons. In the buy out they brought nepotism and increasingly incompetent east coast workers into strategic management roles.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Legacy BGI employees were some of the best and brightest in the industry. They've left in droves and will continue to do so with the now lower pay and increasingly negative work environment.
