I have been working at Blackboard

    Pros

Very flexible work arrangements. Couldn't be better in this regard.

    Cons

Biggest issue is the seeming unwillingness to promote from within. Most issues, including compensation, seem to stem from that.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Think outside of organizational charts when it comes to career development for your employees.

Suspended Raises, No 401K Match. Great work life balance.

I have been working at Blackboard

    Pros

Flexible Work Life balance. 4 Weeks PTO for first 3 years, 5 from 3 - 8 and then 6 weeks. Love working in my blue jeans or seeing others in flip flops.

    Cons

They do not match the 401 K plan. They decided not to give employees a raise even though business is good. In fact some employees got a raise while they told everyone that they were not giving raises in 2009.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They should look at providing for a better match in the 401 K plan. Promotions should also include raises. They should not lie about giving raises.
