Pros

Interesting technology, you will make some good friends, it is the trendy green. It is a good location if you live around Sunnyvale, Togo's and Subway are close.

Cons

Backwards management, poor leadership, poor managers, there is a foreign cast that dominates the company. Politics are the worst I have ever seen. Don't try to shine, you will regret. Just nod and do what your manager tells you to do.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Not worth it trying to state anything. I hope the company makes it, and doesn't become another Solyndra. The meaning of leadership is not understood in your organization, you need to really understand what is the essence of leadership. If you had a sincere employee survey, lots would come up.

Favortism, arrogance and lack of professionalism. Indian and Navy people preferred and pampered.

    Pros

The company has grown to a place where the product is great, and so are the people that have built the product. The management is terrible.

    Cons

This company is ALL about poliitcal cast system, just like in India. It is an indian company in the US, not a culturally balanced American company at all. Only Tamil people are recognized and there is no company loyalty to long term employees. Your only answer is yes, no room for discussion to all topics, despite how illogical some can be. Complete management with negative reinforcement, no positive reinforcement or coaching or development of team members from the managers. Not enough resources or money to get your job done properly. Discrimination is visible with the Indian cultures and also females.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

realize that the people who made this company are valuable, and some serious adjustment needs to be made to retain the people who know all about Bloom's strengths and weaknesses.

A lot of hype, not a good company to work for

    Pros

Bloom Energy has a lot of hype in the cleantech space and you ca leverage that into making connections and finding a better job. People will be impressed that you work there. The main (and one of the few) strengths of this company is the media spin and public image they project.

    Cons

You will be expected to work long hours (12+/day) regularly with little recognition for your efforts. A desire to work less will be viewed as you being "not a team player" and you will be looked down upon. The company pretends to be a "startup" but does not care about you as an employee, the work environment is not enjoyable. The company has dozens of VPs (i.e. 1 VP per 20 lower level employees) and even more Directors. Unless you are in this upper class it is extremely unlikely you will advance and will have to navigate a political minefield of everyone else (including your manager) trying to get ahead of you. Lastly they may be the only company in Silicon Valley to be low enough to give out (worthless) stock options that are almost guaranteed to be under water if and when they ever go public. All you need to do is look at other public (or bankrupt) fuel cell companies to get several data points for reference. Possibly the next Solyndra if you are willing to take the risk with your career.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop treating your employees like dirt. Your company engenders an environment of fear and mistrust. I left and found another job that paid 30% more within 2 weeks with more supportive management. Your company is like being there during the last days of Rome, a glowing vision but rotten at the core.
