I have been working at Bloomberg BNA full-time (less than an year)

Pros

Due to the nature of the company, there is a high concentration of folks with upper level degrees. Subject matter experts in tax, accounting and regulatory affairs, I have the privilege of working in a highly intellectual environment. Benefits and vacation time are generous, while office extras like fresh fruit, snacks, cereal, milk, juice and coffee of plentiful. There are also a lot of opportunities for professional development and social interaction with the company softball team and a local Toastmasters chapter.

Cons

There will always be downsides to go with the upsides, but the upsides far outweigh the downsides. For this company, the biggest downside has to do with some of the legacy heritage from being employee owned. Understanding the necessity of investment in technology and product development will go a long way to staying ahead of the competition. There is a movement forward in this respect, but it will take time.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Understand the competitive landscape. . . . not just the competitor, but emerging technologies, changes in the industry and environment. Invest in areas that will pay off in the long term. It's no longer about the short term gains.

I worked at Bloomberg BNA full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

health benefits, vacation and sick leave, investments, lots of available technologies to work with

    Cons

stagnant employee vertical growth despite individual accomplishments, favoritism, managers/executives unable to properly assign employee workloads, lack of time given for advanced training, work overloading, unethical merger tactics when sold to Bloomberg, the current CTO steals ideas without giving credit to who and/or where they came from, workplace age and race discrimination

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire a new CTO; give the employees full transparency to business decisions that effect them directly; exercise proper workload balancing for the employees; stop favoritism; evaluate all work flows for effective productivity rates

I have been working at Bloomberg BNA full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Warm leads, standard office environment, food pantry to snack at, no direct micromanagement pending who you are assigned to, helpful tech support

    Cons

Click environment with people having worked years with each other. Management is hard nosed, sales environment entirely with a what have you done for me lately attitude, live and die by lead an your ability to make a deal larger than it is or need be. Get on the bad side and leads will be taken away entirely.
