I worked at Bloomberg L.P. full-time (more than an year)

Pros

- Cost cutting: benefit has been reduced year over year and getting worse
- Slow growth
- No more free medical insurance. Use to be free, but now the company charge insurance premiums.
- High turnover. Many people leave within 2 year or less.
- very political place, very hard to get things done. Senior management does not want to take risk by invest in new projects.

I have been working at Bloomberg L.P. full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

No titles so everyone is accessible. Everyone has the same 4 feet of desk space, 2--4-6 monitors, 3 drawers all in an open environment. You could be sitting next to a Pulitzer prize winning recipient, a genius and an average joe. The pantries are awesome, office ambiance is great. Lots of internal opportunities.

    Cons

some non technical depts can develop silos. Can be big brotherish.

I have been working at Bloomberg L.P. full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Smart people, international colleagues, enough funding for reporting trips and congresses, nice office, good chances for advancement. Salaries good compared to other media. Very open to change, new policies or technologies are instituted very quickly. Young tea.

    Cons

Very demanding atmosphere, output metrics seem to be arbitrary, top down management of stories. Strict editing. The Bloomberg Way is close to a cult book. Can be a bit inflexible. Focus on moving stock prices, not story quality.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Give reporters some power.
