Former Employee - Intern in Hong Kong (Hong Kong)

I worked at Bloomberg L.P. as an intern (less than an year)

Pros

The positive environment as well as the horizontal structure are both key features of Bloomberg. There is no boundary between departments as well - as in, if you need help from someone in Sales, you just IB them and they'll call you up right away and help you out. Using the terminals was also a great part of the job.

Cons

I can't think of any from my own experience but that's just me

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Former Employee - Sales Relationship Manager in London, England (UK)

I worked at Bloomberg L.P. full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The well stocked kitchen and the initial training courses provided

    Cons

Power hungry managers, micro management and a lack of loyalty and distrust of it's employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Practice what you preach and try leading by example. Go back to the type of company that Bloomberg was 10 years ago when Mike Bloomberg was at the helm - and there were good financial rewards and incentives for success.

    Pros

NY office is spectacular with a lot of energy and daylight.
Your experience really depends on the department you work in but generally the company is extremely multicultural and the majority of the people you work with are smart and agreeable.

    Cons

London office is a little too packed but Bloomberg is moving to a new building in 2015 close to Cannon Street.
Don't be surprised if London HR loses your P45.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do not promote employees for the sole purpose of tenure, especially in the areas of new product development. These people destroy teams.
