Pigeonholed. The sales and analytics program has fantastic training but the job responsibilities are mindless.

    Pros

The benefits and free food. The people are AMAZING on a junior level!

    Cons

Big brother is always watching and you can feel suppressed at times by your specific title and responsibility.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your employees as people and not as tiny cogs in the machine of selling terminals.

Not what it used to be.

I worked at Bloomberg L.P. full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Tremendous benefits, beautiful working environment, some sweet perks, and they definitely allow you the opportunity to move around to different departments,

    Cons

Middle management is a mixed bag, some are great but many of them are inflexible because the corporate culture discourages innovation; this is definitely the type of company where, in order to get promoted, you need to drink the kool-aid; the pay is lousy (especially in the beginning) and the "certs" bonus plan guarantees that you will have to stay at this company for quite a few years, performing at a high level, before you are finally compensated even a little bit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It's been a while since I was there, so hopefully this has improved, but my advice is this: Select managers based on ability (this includes the ability to work with people as well as basic intelligence) rather than seniority. You are killing your sales people by adhering to archaic practices in terms of management. Be as innovative in your treatment of employees as you are with your products and you'll love the results.
