I have been working at Bloomingdale's part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Good discounts, some nice people.

    Cons

Where do I begin. This company is highly dysfunctional and dissatisfying. There is a clear division between upper management and the rest of the co workers. Their is very little opportunity for job growth unless you trade in your values and just follow the disfunction of upper management. We are told to "take care of our customers and each other" because this company will not. Our frequently rude customers are trained to take blatant advantage of our lax return policy, basically renting out merchandise. If you feel a customer is abusing the system ,you will not get any support, just blame . You are better off working for another retail chain that values your dedication and hard work, their true customers, and not just your numbers or how many credit cards you signed up. This store will run you into the ground ,then dance on your grave. Beware!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop preaching Mandela's way, which you clearly do not follow. Listen to what your employees are telling you. Start taking care of your store internally and it will work better for you. Stop walking around and pointing out the negative. Do the next right thing, If you can not do this, step down and let someone else save this sinking ship.
