Job Interview for Cosmetics Sales Associate

Cosmetics Sales (Former Employee)
Chicago, IL

ProsThey offered generous pay & commissions

ConsThe dreaded 1:30-9:30 shift. The whole employee training etc..was very dated

Advice to Senior ManagementThe HR dept. test question booklet was way too long for a retail job. I had to take 2 test that lasted an hour each. With banal questions like..."would you steal, report theft...etc." Who in gods name would answer yes to them. I felt like it was a waste of time instead of one on one interviews..but there was also plenty of these. All this for a retail job. I am now the Director of Administration at my current job & will always remember these interviews & the Bloomingdale process of how not to hire people.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

I have been working at Bloomingdale's for more than 5 years

Pros: Discount. The bond you create with some coworkers because everyone is living through Bloomingdale's induced misery. Every… Cons: 1)Zero education on trends, products and industry - too much talk about numbers 2)Return policy - created a large clientele of borrowers and abusers 3)Mgmt - Old… Advice to Senior Management: Read the GlassDoor reviews. The same problems are widespread throughout each location… No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company… More
