Used to be my favorite store - after working there, I will NEVER shop there again. EVER!

    I worked at Bloomingdale's full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Good internal sales for employees. Just pretend your salary is enough to pay for those things. And hope you love wearing black. All day. Every day.

    Cons

EXTREMELY political; very poor management, esp. the dumb young girls in middle mgmt; customers increasingly lower-class and STEAL; and of course, the typical lousy retail hours and pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

WAKE UP! Antiquated management; the talented people leave as soon as they figure out the place is a waste of time for them; the Willow Grove store has the highest turnover rate of employees, NO ONE is happy there; idiotic pep rallies that are oblivious to their true customer base and the state of the economy.

I have been working at Bloomingdale's

    Pros

This large fashion leader is like working with your family. They care about you and what is going on.

    Cons

Sometimes because you are so close, when disappointment occurs, it hurts a lot

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be forthright with what you have to do to get promoted.
