Pros

- Amazing people
- Fun, young vibe
- Located in SOMA blocks from the ballpark

Cons

- Mid and Upper Management is reckless and inexperienced
- Job Safety is a huge issue and causes high anxiety among employees
- Surprisingly, the internet is always going down which makes an internet based sales job frustrating
- Comp plan was always changing and being 'adjusted' = again, new company and a bit reckless

Advice to Management

Take responsibility for reckless decisions. Next time you are faced with yet another big layoff, look towards your mid and upper management and take into consideration the choices that have been made at the expense of employees. Also, when a big change is made, don't glaze over the issue and answer with a 'non-answer'. Be direct and honest.

    Pros

    - For a while, Bloomspot had some pull and managed to recruit and employ some outstanding, brilliant people. I cannot speak highly enough of the people with whom I was able to work and their willingness to share information and help each other develop professionally.
    - Great location right near CalTrain and the stadium.
    - Free Diet Coke and other snacks

    Cons

    - Two rounds of severe layoffs with no warning or explanation has left much of the team seeking other opportunities.
    - When the team finally received a financial projection, its methodology and metric determination was not clear. The numbers were incredibly optimistic--at the same time a third of the company was cut.
    - Product and engineering team seem spread too thin. Though engineers were interviewed by the dozens after the second round of funding, none were hired--not even in a junior role. Thus, eight engineers are asked to work on eight different projects, which means progress is slow and room for important work requested by other teams must be planned out months in advance.

    Advice to Management

For now, you still have a crack team of developers, analysts, and salespeople. But they won't stick around long if Bloomspot's core problems aren't openly addressed and resolved. The magic isn't over, but it's imperiled.

Everything was great except the model and the ability for the comapny to monetize.

    Pros

People are amazing, freedom to do your job, no micromanaging, product is ok.

    Cons

No job security, business model might fail, so they company is scrambling, so things like comp structure change CONSTANTLY.

    Advice to Management

Nice guys who are doing a terrible job at building an awesome, successful company. With the 3 rounds of major lay-offs, everyone's job is changing, and everyone thinks it sucks. With the sales team being the life blood of the company, they should have considered keeping them a bit more happy, i.e. not firing everyone and leaving the rest to carry the burden. Everyone is certainty looking for other jobs at this point. Moral sucks.
