BlueCross MN is still a good place to work in spite of the outsourcing and downsizing.

I have been working at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota

Pros

Great benefits and bonus.
People are very nice to work with.
Good work life balance in most areas.
My immediate manager, director, and VP are great.

Cons

There is outsourcing and downsizing occurring.
The transition is uneven in some areas but this is not unexpected.
Even though medical plan cost contribution is rising, still some of the best benefits around.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be careful in choosing the outsourcing partner and who they initially send in.
Make sure any contractors/consultants are screened/interviewed - don't just take what they give.

I worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota

    Pros

    - Decent Benefits Package and compensation
    - Great facilities (fitness center, cafeteria with many healthy options to choose from, clean work area)
    - A strong commitment to diversity

    Cons

    - Extremely poor technology
    - Lack off interest from executive level management and other "back office" departments as to what is going on at the service level
    - Disorganized/ poorly designed resources to perform job duties

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more attentive to service. Encourage other departments to know and understand what is going on in service. Provide the department with technology that is innovative and works consistently. This is the only way you are going to see long-term quantifiable improvements in productivity. Service representatives simply cannot meet metric expectations with dated software and disorganized resources. While It's good showmanship to ask for efficiency input from service representatives, it means very little if you do not act upon the suggestions.
