I worked at Blue Cross (MI) as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

I can't think of any for BCBSMI, although BCN seemed cool.

    Cons

At last in the IT organization, BCBSM I is a very divisive organization and a fairly toxic place to work. It is a very politically charged atmosphere where people seem far more interested in building and protecting fiefdoms that in working to improve the organization. I was thoroughly unimpressed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Clean house.

I have been working at Blue Cross (MI) full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The benefits are very good: health care, tuition reimbursement, 401K.

    Cons

This is the most top heavy company I've ever seen. There are so many layers of VPs and Directors and they just attend meetings all day long. Turnover among the ground level workers is very high. They create positions to promote people and some managers/supervisors/team leads have two employees beneath them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Cut some layers, add some workers. You'll get a lot more work done for your money.
