Almost a good company, not quite...

Customer Service Manager (Current Employee)

I have been working at Blue Shield Of California full-time for more than 5 years

ProsNon-profit ideals and values, friendly people, scenic campus, clean workspace, 401(k) matching, nice education benefits.

ConsSiloed corporate structure, clumsy management, archaic leadership model, notorious history of nepotistic hiring/promotion practices devoid of any regard for talent, HR practices designed to favor tenure over all else, expensive employee contributions for mediocre benefits and lastly sweatshop level workload for CSR's while offering paltry compensation with no room for advancement.

Advice to Senior ManagementPut you "Values" to work. Start with your employees. They are over worked, neglected, underpaid and way more valuable than you think. There is so much untapped talent roaming the halls that is completely lost due to your clogged and decrepit middle management. Focus on results, on innovation and most importantly on REWARDING your employees for all they accomplish. Stop thinking Member>Executives>Client>Broker>Provider>Employee and Start thinking: Member>Employee>Executives>Client>Provider>Broker. Until you learn how to value your human resources, your company will remain on the cusp of greatness.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
