Good non-profit health plan with attractive pay, talented people, but ironically, expensive benefits

Associate Product Manager (Former Employee) El Dorado Hills, CA

ProsThe pay at Blue Shield of California is moderately high. If you stay at least 3 years with the company as a full time employee you are eligible for a pension based on age and years of service. This is a rare benefit these days.

ConsIn my experience, hiring managers tend to favor cadidates with big-3 consulting company history. As a result, there are a lot of smart people, but also a lack of accountability.

For being a health plan, the employees share of the health benefits are pretty expensive.

Advice to Senior ManagementInstill accountability from the top down and honestly take into consideration rank and file thoughts and opinions.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
