I have been working at Board of Child Care full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Good Intentions Decent Pay and Benefits Above Average Cleanliness and Groundskeeping Support Staff (ie. clerical, custodial, etc) are very helpful

Cons

Supervisory staff posturing against residents Supervisory staff threatening/intimidating residents Supervisory staff failing to follow up on residents' grievances Staff, primarily supervisors, implementing incorrect/inappropriate TCI techniques Lack of consistent leadership Lack of consistent application of policy/procedure Failure to acknowledge employee efforts

Advice to Management

Management, to include cottage supervisors, campus supervisors, education liaisons and directors need to communicate more effectively. Management should be more receptive to staff input and suggestions since management is seldom involved in direct care of residents. Positive reinforcement of employees' efforts would be helpful as well.

I worked at Board of Child Care full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Direct experience dealing with kids, growth experience for those in the field Opportunities for advancement Competitive pay for what you are doing Positively impacting children to more productive lives

    Cons

Long hours at times with no breaks No appreciation from management. I was told that my paycheck was my reward. Evaluations and rasies were never on time. Communication is poor. High turn over, short staffed.

    Advice to Management

You can get more from your employees when you respect them, show them that you do and do not try to blame or threaten them into compliance.

I have been working at Board of Child Care full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Salary is ok and benefits are decent

    Cons

Supervisor is crazy -- unpredictable and argumentative New tasks are constantly being added to work load without consideration for available time No power but all the blame Campus is always short staffed Never enough parking In certain departments there is no room for advancement Clear division between CEO and the rest of the staff (Acura SUV's for the top management, house maintenance, etc)

    Advice to Management

Show some gratitude for your employees' hard work! Acknowledge the painstaking care your staff take to help the residents, despite behaviors the residents may display. Notice the devotion your employees have to BCC and their work. A heartfelt thank you from those in control can mean a lot.
