I have been working at Bombardier Aerospace full-time for more than a year

Pros

Good insurance, three 10 min breaks, all the water you can drink, 3 and 4 day weekends, good crew-cheifs

Cons

Lack of team work, tight on time, always rushing to get jobs done,sacrificing quality for quantity, lack of training, lack of tooling, lack of parts, lack of support from with in the company.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Respect your employees, provide the training, and you will keep people

    I have been working at Bombardier Aerospace

    Pros

    It's a job. Much better support equipment compared to Ft Lauderdale, you wouldn't think it was the same company. English is spoken here, unlike Ft Lauderdale. You'll be very happy when shift is over.

    Cons

    - You'll learn quickly that you're just another number.
    - Most lead mechanics care about one thing, making sure they won't ever have to hold a tool again.
    - Moral is extremely low.
    - 3 minute window for everyone to clock in, one second after and you're late, 20 car pile-up in front of you or not.
    - Pre-work meetings will kill off any sort of happiness you may have arrived at work with.
    - Management isn't happy until you're unhappy.
    - Petty new company rules and regulations are non-stop in order for management to justify their existence.
    - Many trip-wires to dodge, in order to avoid getting a bad boy/girl "point" against you.
    - Asking a question or guidance from lead mechanic's can cause them to become very hostile.
    - Been here over 3 months and have never seen, met, or spoken to GM.
    - Missed promised completion dates are never the project managers fault.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Ask yourselves, why the company can't retain talented people. Learn to start treating your people, as just that, and maybe those that don't feel "stuck" there, will stay. Stop looking at the mechanics as the reason the aircraft are consistently not meeting the project managers "promised" completion date. Dole out rewards, half as much as you hand out reprimands. Expect others to walk on water, only after you can.

    Pros

    Financialy strong company with solid management team. Laurant did a great job bringing his son along. Pierre has become a competent executive, very bright and he is willing to fly on his own ability and not hide behind his family or father!

    Cons

    They made a mistake by moving all there senior exec. out. Company has a lot of untested managers who are not ready to stand up and deliver!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    They need to bring some senior people back in play as they are the ones who can pull things together if given a chance.
