    I worked at Bon-Ton Stores

    Pros

If managers who were maniacs weren't there it wasn't that bad. The other employees were nice and the house weren't long.

    Cons

The managers were blatantly mean and acted like middle school children. They had a high turnover and knew they acted terribly but don't think it's important to change there ways.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop being terrible. Don't act like your employees never do any work if you ever catch them standing somewhere for 2 seconds. Maybe they needed a breather.

I have been working at Bon-Ton Stores

    Pros

The management at this store is friendly, organized, and extremely professional. You will be treated like family no matter what position you occupy. You will be given preference for any internal positions that arise and most likely be chosen over external employees.

    Cons

The pay is minimum wage for almost every new sales associate (even those with years of experience). Most sales associates are hired on a short hour (0-20 hrs/wk) basis, but the more availability you have, the more hours you will consistently get. Also, there are opportunities to gather almost full-time hours if you take another position within the store (in a different department) or help out with receiving and stock.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Since a lot of the employees are young students, I believe it would be very beneficial to offer a variety of internships throughout the year to cultivate their potential as leaders, keep them motivated on the floor as sales associates, and encourage their loyalty to the after graduation. Also, for the sales associates who are older or strictly working part-time, it may be beneficial to the stores' sales, its customers, and to corporate to cross-train or rotate them through various departments. This will broaden their knowledge base, challenge them to learn new things, broaden employee rapport, and increase customer satisfaction.
