Pros

Opportunity to work with, by and large, great people with similar interests. Very relaxed corporate culture. When you meet a member of the public who knows our brands they usually rave about them and it's great to be a part of a team that influences others so positively. Entrepreneurial environment where self-starters can thrive. There's lots of opportunity for people willing to step up.

Cons

A lot (but not all) of junior staffers and long-term employees have a sense of entitlement and are not willing to do the hard work needed to make the company stronger. This negativity contributes to low morale. Training opportunities are limited and ways of doing things vary wildly across the company. People who don't actively manage their own career path could get lost in the shuffle.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue the increased communication and emphasis on transparency. Positive words and gestures, however small, go a long way.

I have been working at Bonnier Corporation full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The titles are exciting, and the creative departments are fully committed to producing appealing products. In it's heyday, the company culture was relaxed yet professional, and everyone worked for the common good.

    Cons

First came the buy out, which changed things, then a lot the original team that made the company what it was were laid off, while the yes men and backstabbers were promoted. Now, the new CEO is a former bean counter who hasn't got a clue about how to manage people or products. His corporate vision seems to involve chasing his tail in an endless series of cost cutting moves that help his short-term bottom line, then require more cuts as he keep gutting the company and negating any chance of growth or recovery. And forget the so-called move to digital" efforts. Those in charge don't have any idea how to make this happen. I expect to loose my job any day, as does half the company. It happens on a Friday with zero notice, and those who are left wander around like plane crash victims with survivor's guilt. Too bad, because if the new owners had made different management choices, things might have turned around.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do you see a problem when everyone in the company likens you to Darth Vader.... and you are proud of the association?

I have been working at Bonnier Corporation full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

No dress code & reasonably flexible hours.

    Cons

Very flaky new CEO, recent decisions make company morale very very low, very poor employee -to- management communication, no training, many manager are not even in-house (they work remotely from out of state, ridiculous!)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bring your management back into the office and make them communicate with and train your staff regularly. Focus on working with your team about project requirements and effort before making a schedule. Stop outsourcing.
