Great workplace, though very corporate for Dutch standards

I worked at Booking.com full-time for more than a year

Pros

Very international, career friendly, scientific in their approach to design and usability.

Cons

Incredibly frustratingly corporate. Feels very US-corporate. Hated the "buzzword"-feeling presentations (DNA training and such). Being in a team tended to make your field of work very narrow; you only work on a designated spot on the site and that's it for at least a few months on end.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ditch the incredibly annoying "you need to do this and that legal training" bull. One line should be sufficient: "Act in the best interest of Booking.com."

I have been working at Booking.com full-time for less than a year

    Pros

It is such a pleasure to work here; the people are nice, it really feels like you are being rewarded for the things that you do and it provides you a platform so that you can really show what your skills are. The colleagues are great, it is such an international environment to work in. The company language is English, so even if you just started working here it immediately feels like you are part of the team. We are headquartered in Amsterdam situated beautifully in de city center in Amsterdam. Surrounded with shops, the canal ring and of course some nice bars. So that even after work you have a great time.

    Cons

At the moment no cons found.

    Pros

Growing company and leader in the field, good facilities (free meals/drinks etc for employees), complete training, good perspectives for obedient employees.

    Cons

Impersonal, production-line working environment, no human relations, very low pay, very often working overtime, hardly any break, very stricts rules, no flexibility.
