Books-A-Million Barista in Fultondale, AL:   (Past Employee - 2008)

Pros

Flexible hours/will work around your schedule; 20% off every day and 30% on the 1st of every month and during the holidays; easy work; mostly friendly employees

Cons

Incompetent managers, low pay (although slightly above minimum wage); they do not praise you for what you do right, but only tell you what you're doing wrong. You're required to sell a certain percentage of discount cards every week and they tell you that if you don't meet your percentage that you will lose your job, but there were several weeks when I didn't meet my percentage and I was never even warned that I could lose my job.

Advice to Senior Management

Don't hit on associates; listen to associates when they complain about something
