I worked at Boots as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Other sales assistants and some managers are friendly and easy to get along with

    Cons

    * Only allowed 1 break when working 12 hours even though I was 17 * Blackmailed to work evenings after college re-stocking shelves (manager told me she wouldn't be able to 'find' me any more hours to work if I didn't do evening as well as both saturday (12 hours) and sunday (7 hours) * They forgot to pay me on numerous occasions. I am still owed over £500 * When I was being sick in work, one manager forced me to take medicine from the pharmacy and get back to work *Other sales assistants were treated in the same way * Manager shouted at most people (bullying)

    Advice to Management

    Quit

    Pros

Reasonable discount of 12.5 on regular items and i think 22.5 for Boots branded products. A few days of double discount per year. You are first to know about new products and sale/clearance products,

    Cons

No chairs so you are standing most of the day. One of my managers didn't allow us to have bottles of water on the shop floor (apparently it was unprofessional). Too much bureaucracy and not enough independent thought on the managers side

    Advice to Management

Keep to your promises you make at the start of the job. Employee satisfaction is just as important as customer satisfaction.
