Pros

Best on boarding ever - creates immediate personal investment in company. Felt like a valuable asset and appreciated management involvement in the employees' well-being. Great benefits and educational opportunities. Even the upper management took the time to make new team members feel welcome and as if their contributions mattered. People actually listened and took suggestions into consideration - or at least were polite enough to pretend, which goes a long way! Smart, creative and personally invested coworkers make for a wonderful work atmosphere. Client facing contract work is interesting and rewarding, with the opportunity to make real and noticeable contributions to customer productivity.

Cons

Only con was the teaming with other companies - created a bit of pay inequity for people doing the same jobs side by side, and fragmenting within teams. Not Booz Allen's fault, just a byproduct of teaming contracts.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

The 360 evaluation process is horrendously complicated and time consuming. A simple "how to" guide would've made it less intimidating the first go through. I do appreciate that it's online, though.

Company has changed - the"secret sauce" is gone - not what it once was

    Pros

Work with a diverse group of people
    Gain valuable experience
    Interesting work

    Cons

Seldom promotes from within; would rather hire people from the outside for higher level positions
Boasts of a culture built on core values such as trust, integrity, teamwork, professionalism, diversity, etc., yet this culture does not exist. Very difficult to find many people who actually exhibit the core values
Career growth and overall experience varies greatly depending on what team you are on

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Practice what you preach. Look at the turnover rate. Find out why many employees stay on average of three years. Take a good, hard look at middle management and go back to using objective assessors for annual assessments rather than using managers

    Pros

    - BAH is a good company to have in your resume (or at least it was). BAH used to be on of the top 5 strategic management consulting firms so many people associate BAH with the past.
    - The company used to have good benefits, but once it went public the company started cutting benefits left and right. Work life balance is good.

    Cons

    - Office environment: good old boy network. If you and you boss get a long you will get promoted quickly. Promotions do not take into account experience or performance.
    - Management is poor. As mentioned, people promoted are not the most adequate or capable, thus management does not know what they are doing. Management that come from without the company are mostly hired by their size of the roller deck.
    - BAH primary source of revenue if the federal government. Projects are not challenging, and most of the time involve minimal creativity and problem solving skills.
    - As of 2013, company's revenue has decrease significantly. Layoffs are projected and comany is projected to cut benefits.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The organization is top heavy. The company should trim the fat on top. Also, company should focus on keeping high performance employees and not keep and promote friends.
