Great company of highly motivated professionals

I have been working at Booz Allen Hamilton full-time for more than 8 years

Pros

Great working environment with the opportunity to work with other highly motivated professionals. Able to learn a great deal with good benefits.

Cons

Work/Life balance has been on a steady decline as they "encourage" you to work specifically on-site at client environments. Given the primary focus of the business is still currently working with DoD, contracts tend to be a bit on the volatile side given the current political climate.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Over the past few years, have felt very disjoint from organization as a whole. Lack of team building activities leads to becoming disenchanted with working for Booz Allen versus being an employee for the client themselves. Fostering organizational/team culture should be better emphasized to encourage a sense of organizational community that is currently lacking.

Fat doesn't know how to cut itself; self-preserving management leaves no one to do actual work.

    Pros

This was was once a great office of like-minded, young aerospace engineers seeking freedom from bureaucracy and merit-based reward.

    Cons

A top-heavy organization with self-serving management. New graduates, look for other options. While it may still look good on a resume, there is no one left to show you the ropes of client delivery, engagement leadership, and provide mentorship -- they've gone elsewhere or have been cut to preserve billing rates -- You, as cheap labor will be what makes this equation "work."

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quality demands a premium. Smaller, high-functioning teams can provide greater value than filling seats with warm bodies -- but it takes work. Perhaps it's worth doing.

    Pros

Excellent company, excellent benefits. They hire the best. Leadership works very hard to keep you billable and to grow your career but networking is vital to your success with Booz.

    Cons

The recruiting process tends to take a long time.
