I have been working at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP

Pros

The salary is extremely high, with equity partners regularly earning more than 500,000. Recognized and respected throughout Canada.

Borden Ladner Gervais offers great room for advancement, and extremely good support staff.
Facilities and offices are top-notch.

Cons

Little interaction with other attorneys, highly competitive work environment.

Efforts to build social interaction seem forced, despite the high costs of elaborate Christmas parties and other outings.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat support staff and articling students with more respect.

I worked at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

I loved working here, the people are great, I always felt appreciated.

    Cons

When I decided to make a move I realized I was grossly under paid in comparison to my colleagues, I fought many times to get a fair increase and it just never happened.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I understand Calgary is a tough market to remain competitive in, however, if you want to maintain quality staff, proper salary increases may be a good start.
