Borders Bookseller in Ann Arbor, MI:   (Past Employee - 2007)

Pros

Compare to their competitors, Borders allows employees to be themselves. This creates the store's atmosphere of uniqueness and helps workers feel more a part of the company.

Cons

Depending on where you work, the cleanup can be thankless. The clientele varies greatly depending on location, so the store is only as good as the community it serves.

Advice to Senior Management

Play up your strengths. Emphasize the reasons you're not like the competition. Work on growing the company culture--though it exists, you're losing it. Especially in outlying areas/weaker communities.
