Making coffee was so much fun, and the regulars are amazing!

I was promised a raise and never received one. Barely survived on this income. Borders rewards sign up percentages.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The management expected us to pull the same Borders rewards signup percentages as the cashiers selling books and miscellaneous items. People come to the coffee shop for coffee---not to be hounded about signing up for some card they have to pay for every year.

    - I enjoyed working with my fellow booksellers
    - I loved working around books and getting to know our product better
    - In small pockets I was able to achieve some sense of responsibility

    - The corporate offices lost sight of what made this chain unique when it attempted to clone Barnes and Noble within its walls
    - Store management felt it necessary to do exactly what was asked by the removed corporate offices, making work life rather uncomfortable for the employees
