I worked at Boston College part-time (more than a year)

Pros

* Flexible scheduling that fits your life as a grad student
* Wonderful opportunity to build professional relationships and mentor younger students
* Great opportunity to learn from professors and mentors

Cons

You can't get paid multiple wage levels on campus, so my wage was set at the rate of a 2nd work study position which paid me less than I normally would have been paid as a graduate assistant. University politics often impacted funding and the direction of innovated programs, making it hard to build something truly innovative to respond to current issues.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give women more opportunities for leadership in administration and management. Cultivate mentoring relationships with student workers; it helps them know you and your professional interests better and it also gives them ideas for growth in their studies and professional lives.
