Pros

Lots of Training opportunities for soft skills like leadership and person to person relationships. Not so much training on products.

Cons

The more desirable benefits like child care and weight watchers clubs and others types of employee engagement programs are centered around the Minnesota and Massachusetts sites.

Advice to Management

Varies by department.

    Pros

Pay... Was ok but was the only thing they could compete on.
Middle mgmt was still trying... Staff too, but too many Directors and VP's promoted for political reasons rather than ability.

    Cons

Career development is limited to the two weeks before your review where managers exchange barbs in a race to define the bottom 15%.
HR is a joke. Completely outsourced and incompetent. Payroll errors, benefits errors that went on for months with little care for the impact to the employee

    Advice to Management

You pretend you have a culture that values the employee but you have cut everything the employee cares about in order to keep Wall Street from seeing the truth... the emperor has no clothes.

    Pros

Outstanding work-life balance. There's a belief in not working too much and that it's just a job. Additionally, in my experience, I found that my peers had the drive and creativity to market sub-par products in a crowded space. Average benefits across med-tech companies.

    Cons

Stagnation and mediocrity are acceptable part of the culture, so if you are a hard charger, you won't fit in. When management skills (leadership, driving the business, creativity) in this company are compared to managers in other companies, BSC managers are sub-par.
Culture is stuck in the 1990s, during the good old days. Hey, guess what, it's a different ball game, but the company hasn't changed with the times

    Advice to Management

Hold managers accountable for revenue targets. If they can't hit them, let them go.
